Front Yard Makeover 2004

It's time to get some curb appeal...

Above: Say goodbye to the old lawn....

Above: Goodbye lawn!
David rented a sod cutter, and and with the assistance of Tony, took up all the old lawn.
It look David almost 2 weeks and many trips in the truck to get rid up it all.
Many thanks to our neighbors and friends for the use of their green waste cans!

The next weekend we rented a rototiller and turned over all the dirt,
pulling out all the old roots.
After that, David got a "half scoop" of sand dumped in his truck
(that's 1100 lbs!) and we layed it down on the space cut for the new pathway.

Day 1 of Laying the Brick Path
Kristina and Sharon figure it out....

Below: Day 2, the finished path!
It was back-breaking work, but worth every minute.
Thanks Mom!

Below: David changed out the entire sprinkler irrigation system.
He dug new trenches, layed all new pipe, and installed new valves
so we can have two zones and a timer.

Two weeks later,
Kristina built this smaller path herself!

New brick edging for the flower bed, along with a few small brick stepping areas.

Next...
The grass seed and topper is all down and new flowers in place.

We have cosmos, pansies, iceland poppies, allysum, daisys, and...

Kangaroo Paws and Yellow Feathery Cassia

Finally! The finished product.....

Finally! The paint and landscaping is done!

Someday this lattice will be covered with pink and white bouganvilla
and passion-fruit vine.
